Gas and Diesel Brought to Your Vehicle

Running out of fuel is embarrassing and completely ordinary. Low-fuel warnings vary by model, traffic on I-240 turns a fifteen-minute run into forty, and the last few miles to a station can evaporate faster than the gauge suggested. Then you are stopped somewhere with no safe way to walk to a pump.

We bring fuel to the vehicle, petrol or diesel, in an amount sufficient to get you to a station rather than to fill the tank, which is both the cheaper and the safer approach. No walking along a shoulder with a can, and no leaving your car unattended in a lane.

Diesel in a Petrol Tank, and Vice Versa

If you have just put the wrong fuel in, the single most important thing is this: do not start the engine. Not even to move the car. A misfuelled vehicle that is never started is usually a drain-and-flush job. One that has been run is potentially a fuel system replacement, because modern high-pressure diesel injection systems are lubricated by the fuel itself and petrol strips that lubrication in seconds.

Leave it off, call us, and we will tow it to a shop that can drain the tank. It is a bad day either way, but it is the difference between a moderate bill and a very large one.

The same caution applies to running a diesel completely dry. Many diesels need bleeding before they will restart even after fuel is added, so if you drained a diesel tank entirely, expect that it may not simply fire up.

Frequently asked questions

How much fuel will you bring?

Enough to get you comfortably to the nearest station, typically a couple of gallons. Delivering a full tank in cans is neither safe nor sensible, and you get a better price at the pump anyway.

What does fuel delivery cost?

The fuel itself plus a delivery call-out, both quoted before dispatch. It is consistently cheaper than a tow, which is why it is worth calling rather than assuming you need one.

Do you deliver diesel?

Yes, including for commercial vehicles and fleets. Be clear about the fuel type on the phone, bringing the wrong one turns a simple job into a very expensive one.

My car stopped but the gauge shows fuel. Is it out of gas?

Possibly not. A faulty fuel gauge, a failed fuel pump or a blocked filter all present the same way. If fuel arrives and the engine still will not run, the problem is mechanical and it needs a tow. Our driver will already be there.

I put the wrong fuel in. What should I do?

Do not start the engine, and do not move the car under its own power. Call us for a tow to a shop that can drain and flush the system. Starting it is what turns this into a major repair.
